After one of our first dates, we got caught up talking about our individual love interests (which did not include each other). We drove back-and-forth over a set of 3 speed bumps, giving and taking dating advice and devising plans to help each other with each of our crushes. I was home 2 hours late from that date and spent the next weekend at home, grounded for it. He felt bad and stopped by with cupcakes and a movie (13 going on 30) before heading out to put some of my love-advice into action.
We were really close for the next year and a half, and then he left for a 2-year church service mission in Australia. We wrote letters to keep in touch, but still only as friends, nothing romantic. I dated around during those two years and even kept him posted on my latest love-interests. Garrett came home in May of '09. To both of our surprise, we picked up right where we left off. We filled our evenings with long conversations, driving over those old familiar speed bumps. One conversation revealed a mutual desire to be best friends forever. Garrett and I spent the first few years of our marriage in adventure-mode, traveling the country and enjoying our family of two. I wouldn't trade those years together as just the two of us for anything. In our first 3 years of marriage, we've moved more than 10 times and lived in Provo UT, Charlotte NC, Knoxville TN, St. Louis MO, and now Phoenix AZ. We'll go wherever the adventure takes us.....as long as we have each other we're happy!
We had our beautiful Ragean Kae in August 2012. Aside from the day we were married, the day she was born was the best day of our lives. Our family is our greatest blessing.
I enjoy writing, and use this blog as one of my little creative outlets. I like to write about our family, our experiences, our frustrations, our cute baby, our adventures, things I've learned, our favorite recipes, favorite memories, my hopes and dreams, our travels, and our crappy sleeping stories. This little spot on the internet holds a special place in my heart! I write from the heart, and try to be authentic and real. I hope someday my children can look back on this blog and see a little glimpse of their parents and their family throughout the years. I can honestly say the we are living our happily ever after.
